Iowa School Performance Profiles
Parents,
Recently the Iowa Department of Education released the Iowa School Performance Profiles. This online tool provides information about how public schools in Iowa are performing. By having such a platform to research school performance, Iowa meets the requirements of state and federal requirements for publishing school report cards. Additionally, knowing that choosing a school for your child is a big responsibility, this tool can serve as a valuable resource in a family’s decision-making process.
Treynor CSD is proud to say that all three of our schools are rated as “High Performing.” Such a rating is a direct reflection of the hard work put in by our teachers and all of our school staff. We are fortunate enough to have dedicated and caring staff across all positions that are committed to ensuring that our school environment and classrooms support all students achieving excellence. The Iowa School Performance Profile supports the outcome of this work and furthermore provides you with an opportunity to see how other schools and school districts have performed. To this end we are proud to say that our schools are some of the very best in Southwest Iowa. In fact, we appear to be the only district in our area that has all of its schools ranked High Performing.
There are several indicators that go into the calculation of a school’s performance score, which include: assessment participation; attendance; graduation rates; growth in math, language arts, and science; proficiencies in math, language arts, science; and lastly, post-secondary readiness indicators. Point values are awarded for each of the ten categories with growth in math and language arts being the largest categories followed by proficiency and attendance with respect to possible points to be earned.
This link will take you to our district’s performance profile. This will provide you with an overview of our district’s demographics, our score in comparison to the state average (black diamond on the bar graph next to each indicator), and links to each of our school’s results. The site also allows you to look up any public school’s results in Iowa and there is a “search/compare” feature in the top right of the page. Like you, we also like to see how our schools compare to some of our neighboring schools. To help with this we put together this spreadsheet that shows the overall score of our schools and some of those around us. To see more specific information you would need to look up the school in the Iowa School Performance Profile site. A couple of items to draw your attention to would be the overall scores of our schools and the fact that some school’s scores are italicized. The schools that have italicized scores are identified for under-performing student group(s). In some cases that may have placed them in an overall lower ranking.
Our hope is that this information gives you another reason to celebrate the great things that are happening in our schools everyday and more over, the overall success measured in these student learning indicators.
Thank you again for all your support and helping us live up to our motto of Excellence is Expected & Excellence is Achieved!
Roll Cards!
