Vanguard Caps Off Season with High Ratings

The Treynor Cardinal Vanguard capped off their marching band season with a Division I rating at the state marching band competition in Glenwood on Saturday, October 15, 2022, followed by a 1st place finish in Class 2A and best in class color guard at the Mid-Iowa Championships held in Ankeny. 

Prior Saturday competitions netted top results, finishing in 1st place in Class 2A, best color guard and best horn line at the Loess Hills Festival in Glenwood on October 8th. On October 1st at the Clarinda Band Jamboree, the band received 1st place in the field competition in Class 2A as well as in the morning parade. Brooke Atteberry also received an award for Best Drum Major in all classes at the Clarinda Jamboree.

The marching band had 73 students this year, which included the 9 color guard members, and was under the direction of Miss Taci Beam, Mrs. Jill Davis, and Color Guard Director Mrs. Angie Mittan. The band also received volunteer guidance from retired band director Mr. Jeff Schoening as well as band parent and local musician, Jason Burmeister.

You can support the Vanguard Marching Band by ordering apparel from the online store through October 24, 2022.  The Music Department will be making a trip in the spring to Nashville and all monies raised will help fund this trip.
