District Names Nickerson as Next High School Principal

TREYNOR, IA — The Treynor Community School District has named Rick Nickerson as the next principal of Treynor High School.

Nickerson currently serves as high school principal in the Glenwood Community School District. There, he has designed and led a “Rams United” initiative, facilitated the building leadership team, developed monthly board reports, and communicated with families via a weekly newsletter.

Before that, Nickerson was Glenwood High School’s associate principal. In that role, he hired and evaluated teachers, coordinated student discipline efforts, enforced attendance policies, and facilitated professional development and professional learning communities.

Nickerson also has experience as an English language learning instructor, an elementary school teacher, and a high school track coach. He holds a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a bachelor’s degree in education from Doane College.

District leaders have been working with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. The district conducted interviews with each of the three finalists on Tuesday, May 17.

Nickerson will officially begin serving as principal of Treynor High School on July 1, 2022.
