Track 2018 Highlights

5/21/18 - Congratulations to all the state track participants! Athletes that brought home medals from the 3-day event include: Jerry Jorgenson, 3rd in the 3200 and 5th in the 1600; Jack Tiarks, 5th in the high jump (6-03); Megan Carley, 4th in the 200, Sienna Black, 7th in the long jump (5-03); Noel James, Megan Carley, Maddie Shipley & Mia Shipley, 3rd in the 4x100; and Noel James, Mia Shipley, Chloe Gregory & Megan Carley, 2nd in the 4x400. 5/11/18 - Treynor hosted one of the 2A State Qualifying Meets Thursday evening. Girls results from that meet can be downloaded here. Boys results can be downloaded here. Top two finishers automatically qualify. The state then determines additional qualifiers based on time. 5/7/18 - Western Iowa Conference track at Missouri Valley was held on May 1st and was called early due to storms. The meet was finished on May 2nd. The girls finished 2nd with 132.5 points, 6.5 points behind Logan Magnolia. Top finishers included Megan Carley (1st) in the 100, 200 and 400; Mia Shipley 2nd and 3rd in the 100M dash and 200M dash; Noel James (3rd) in the 800M run; Chloe Gregory (2nd) in the 400M hurdles; Sienna Black (1st) in the high jump; Maddie Shipley, Noel James, Regan Harter, and Mia Shipley (3rd) in the 4x100 relay; Maddie Shipley, Regan Harter, Kennedy Elwood, and Mia Shipley (3rd) in the 4x200 relay; Noel James, Maddie Shipley, Chloe Gregory and Sienna Black (3rd) in the 4x400 relay; Kaylee Finnegan, Regan Harter, Sienna Black and Megan Carley (3rd) in the 800 sprint medley; and Reece Rochleau, Mandy Stogdill, Chloe Gregory and Noel James (1st) in the distance medley. 

The boys placed 2nd in WIC Track with 121 points, 33 points behind Underwood. Top finishers included Jake Fisher (2nd) in the 110M hurdles; Jerry Jorgenson (1st) in both the 1600 and 3200 run; Jack Tiarks (1st) in the high jump; Jake Fisher (2nd) in the long jump; Jack Tiarks, Kyle Christensen, Sid Schaaf, and Jake Fisher (1st) in the shuttle hurdle relay with a season-best of 1:01.93; Tommy Duysen, Austin Kulesa, Luke Clausen and Jerry Jorgenson (1st) in the distance medley.

4/27/18 - The Drake Relays in Des Moines is held this year on April 25th through 28th. Jake Tiarks qualified for the high jump and finished 14th. The girls 4x100M and 4x400M relay teams qualified as well. Athletes for these two events include Noel James, Maddie Shipley, Mia Shipley, Chloe Gregory, Sienna Black and Megan Carley.  

4/26/18 - The athletes have been busy running and throwing the last ten days, and we have results to share.  On Thursday, April 19th, the ladies placed 4th in the Council Bluffs AL/TJ Invite with 95 total points. Top finishers included Megan Carley (3rd) in the 100M dash; Mia Shipley (2nd) in both the 200M and 400M dash; Tori Castle (2nd) in the 3000M run; Sienna Black (1st) in the high jump; Noel James, Maddie Shipley, Kennedy Elwood and Megan Carley (1st) in the 4x200M relay; and Noel James, Maddie Shipley, Chloe Gregory and Megan Carley (1st) in the 4x400M relay. At the Eagles CoEd race on April 20th, the girls' team placed 3rd. Megan Carley gave the team 10 points with her 1st place finish in the 200M dash, Noel James placed 2nd in the 400M dash, Sienna Black jumped 5'0" to score 1st place, while Maddie Shipley jumped 15-08 to add 10 more points with her 1st place finish. The 4x100M relay team of Maddie Shipley, Megan Carley, Kennedy Elwood and Mia Shipley placed 3rd, just a fraction of a second behind 1st and 2nd. The 4x200M relay team of Maddie Shipley, Reece Rochleau, Megan Carley and Haedyn Jorgenson placed 3rd, earning the team 6 points. Finishing 1st in the 4x400M relay was the team of Noel James, Mia Shipley, Chloe Gregory and Sienna Black. Megan Carley, Chloe Gregory, Tori Castle and Noel James placed 3rd in the 4x800M relay.  The Cardette Relays was a small and short race, due to scheduling conflicts from many teams, and the girls came away with a dominating 1st place finish. Top scorers included Megan Carley (1st) in the 100M dash; Noel James (3rd) in the 200M dash; Chloe Gregory (2nd) in the 400M dash; Sienna Black (1st) in the 800M run; Kaylee Finnegan (1st) in the 100M hurdles; Tori Castle (1st) in the 3000M run; Chloe Gregory (1st) and Gracie Hansen (2nd) in the 400M hurdles; Stella Umphreys (3rd) in the discus; Maddie Shipley (1st) in the long jump; Lucy Thiel (3rd) in the shot; Kaylee Finnegan, Megan Carley, Reece Rochleau and Noel James (3rd) in the 4x100M relay; Maddie Shipley, Megan Carley, Kennedy Elwood and Mia Shipley (3rd) in the 4x200M relay; Chloe Gregory, Maddie Shipley, Sienna Black and Mia Shipley (2nd) in the 4x400M relay; Sienna Black, Sydney Carman, Gracie Hansen and Haedyn Jorgenson (1st) in the 4x800M relay; Kaylee Finnegan, Chloe Gregory, Reece Rochleau and Mia Shipley (1st) in the 400M shuttle hurdle relay; Kaylee Finnegan, Reece Rochleau, Noel James and Mia Shipley (1st) in the 800-sprint medley; and Maddie Shipley, Sydney Carman, Megan Carley and Noel James (1st) in the distance medley.

At the Wheeler Relays on April 24th, the girls placed 2nd. Top scorers included Mia Shipley (1st) in the 100M dash, Megan Carley (1st) and Mia Shipley (3rd) in the 200M dash, Mia Shipley (3rd) in the 400M dash, and Tori Castle, 1st in the 3000M run and 3rd in the 1500M run; Stella Umphreys (3rd) in the discuss; Sienna Black (1st) in the high jump; Maddie Shipley, Megan Carley, Noel James and Sienna Black (2nd) in the 4x100M relay; Maddie Shipley, Noel James, Sienna black and Megan Carley (1st) in the 4x200M relay; and Maddie Shipley, Reece Rochleau, Megan Carley and Noel James (1st) in the 800-sprint medley.

On the men's side, the Cardinals placed 3rd at the Eagle CoEd race on April 20th. Top team scorers included Jake Fisher (2nd) in the 110M hurdles; Jerry Jorgenson (1st) in the 1600M run; Derrick Thompson (3rd) in the 3200M run; Jack Tiarks (1st) in the high jump; Jake Fisher, Kyle Christensen, Jack Tiarks and Sid Schaaf (2nd) in the 400M shuttle hurdle relay; and Seth Young, Will Halverson, Luke Clausen and Jerry Jorgenson (2nd) in the distance medley. At the Glenwood Ram Relays on April 23rd, the team placed 8th. Top scorers included Jerry Jorgenson (3rd) in the 1600M run; Jack Tiarks (1st) in the high jump; and Will Halverson, Broc Livengood, Luke Clausen and Jerry Jorgenson (1st) in the 1600-distance medley. On April 24th at the Audubon Wheeler Relays, Treynor placed 2nd place, 3 points behind WIC opponent, Underwood. Jerry Jorgenson placed 2nd in the 800M run and 1st in the 1600M and 3200M runs.  Jack Tiarks jumped 6'2" to place 1st in the high jump, with teammate Noah James getting 2nd reaching a height of 5'10".  The 4x100M relay team of Wyatt James, Evan Smith, Tommy Duysen and Broc Livengood placed 2nd while the 4x200M relay team of Wyatt James, Tommy Duysen, Austin Kulesa and Broc Livengood placed 3rd.  Will Halverson, Sid Schaaf, Austin Kulesa and Noah James placed 3rd in the 4x400M relay. In the 400M shuttle hurdle relay, Jack Tiarks, Wyatt James, Sid Schaaf and Jake Fisher placed 2nd. The distance medley team of Tommy Duysen, Austin Kulesa, Will Halverson and Jerry Jorgenson placed 1st.

4/20/18 - As is the case with all spring sports, the lack of spring weather has been the biggest hurdle of the season so far. Working around those challenges, the teams have been able to participate in at least 4 meets thus far.  For the boys, their season started at Missouri Valley's Big Red Relays on April 5th with a 2nd place team finish. Top Treynor finishers in the events were Jake Fisher (2nd) and Jack Tiarks (3rd) in the 110M Hurdles; Jerry Jorgenson (1st) in the 1600M and 3200M Run; Brock Fox (1st) in the discus; Jack Tiarks (1st) in the high jump; Brock Fox (2nd) and Kristian Martens (3rd) in the shot put; Jake Fisher, Jack Tiarks, Zach Molde and Sid Schaff (2nd) in the 440M shuttle hurdle relay; Evan Smith, Tommy Duysen, Austin Kulesa, and Sid Schaff (2nd) in the 800-sprint medley relay. The team was even down 10 athletes who were competing in the Iowa Jazz Championship.  At the Cyclone Relays in Harlan on April 10th, the team finished 5th. Top event finishers included Jerry Jorgenson (2nd) in the 1600M Run and 1st in the 3200M Run; Jack Tiarks (1st) in the high jump; Jake Fisher, Jack Tiarks, Broc Livengood and Sid Schaff (1st) in the 400M shuttle hurdle relays; and Broc Livengood, Will Halverson, Sid Schaff, and Jerry Jorgenson (3rd) in the distance medley relay.  On April 12th at the 3rd Annual Council Bluffs Boys Invite, Treynor tied for 5th. The big news was Jack Tiarks' personal best 6'6" jump to win and qualify for Drake Relays. Other top finishers included Jake Fisher (2nd) in the 110M hurdles; Jerry Jorgenson (1st) in the 3200M run; and Jake Fisher, Jack Tiarks, Broc Livengood and Sid Schaff (2nd) in the shuttle hurdle relays.  Lewis Central hosted the next meet for the boys on April 17th. Top finishers for Treynor included Jack Tiarks (1st) in high jump; Jerry Jorgenson (2nd) in the 3200M Run; and Jake Fisher, Jack Tiarks, Broc Livengood and Sid Schaaf (2nd) in shuttle hurdle.  

The girls track team's first competition took them to Harlan on April 5th for the Koos Girls Invite. The team finished 8th with 53 points. Top Treynor finishers included Megan Carley (3rd) in the 200M dash; Noel James (3rd) in the 800M run; Kaylee Finnegan (4th) in the 100M hurdles; Sienna Black (3rd) in the high jump; Kaylee Finnegan, Chloe Gregory, Noel James and Megan Carley (2nd) in the 800-sprint medley; and Chloe Gregory, Sienna Black, Megan Carley and Noel James (1st) in the distance medley. Their next meet was at Lewis Central on April 10th. On April 12th at the Tri-Center Invitational, the team took 4th with 57 total points. Top point-earners included Megan Carley (2nd) in the 100M dash; Tori Castle (3rd) in both the 1500M and 3200M runs; Sienna Black (1st) in the high jump; Maddie Shipley (2nd) in the long jump; Noel James, Maddie Shipley, Megan Carley and Sienna black (3rd) in the 4x400; and Megan Carley, Sienna Black, Maddie Shipley and Noel James (1st) in the distance medley.
