Letter from the Superintendent
New School Year & Student Activity Passes
Parents,
The start of school is right around the corner! Students have a variety of emotions this time of year, some excited to return and others wanting more time for their summer break. Just like our students, parents also have mixed emotions. Some of you are hurrying to try to get a few of those last summer wishlist activities completed and some of you are ready for your kids to be back in school and on a schedule, but you're not sure you should say it out loud. Regardless, the first student day is August 23rd and all teachers return on August 19th. What that means is the back to school information will begin to pick up in the next few weeks and this communication may just get that ball rolling.
Last year, through the generosity of several community members and organizations we offered free student admission to our home activities for Treynor CSD students. This year, we again have support from local donors to help offset the costs of student admission into our home activities. For the past several years our student activity pass has been priced at $100 per school year. With the support of our donors we are able to lower that activity pass cost to $20 with donors covering the remaining amount. This activity pass and others can be purchased through our GoBound system and an email pushing out this information will be coming out soon, so be on the lookout for it (the GoBound site will lower the ticket price after August 1st). The goal of our donors is to increase student attendance at our activities by reducing one of the main obstacles, admission costs. Knowing that $20 can still be a challenge for some families or students we don’t want that to prevent your student from attending activities, so if you find yourself in such a situation please reach out to the school and let us know and we will work with you to make sure that $20 does not prevent your student from attending activities.
Perhaps you have already seen the news about the Treynor Schools Fund for classroom grant opportunities, but if you haven’t it is a great opportunity to support some of those “extra” experiences and materials that make the learning experience one to remember. This year the Treynor School Fund is proud to announce that they have received a $10,000 one-to-one matching challenge. Classroom grants will be introduced for the 25-26 school year with a maximum award of $500 per application. Here is a link to an article for you to read more about this opportunity and a link to donate.
You might also be wondering how to support some of the great organizations we have at Treynor CSD for this school year. Organizations like our Athletic Booster Club, Music Booster Club, Teammates, and Post-Prom Parent Group to name a few. This article shares with you how you can donate to these groups during the registration process.
If there is a group that you don’t see mentioned that you would like to support through your time and/or money, just give us a call at 712-487-3414 and we can help make your donation of time and/or money a reality.
As I end this communication, I want to acknowledge that receiving communications about donating can be a bit unappealing at times, but what sets our school community apart from others is the support that our students receive from community members. This support comes in a variety of ways from various members in our community. Some are able to share their time and talents to help make things happen in our school community and others are not able to do that, but want to help and donations are a way to ensure that the “extra” things continue to happen for our students.
Thank you in advance for your support and ROLL CARDS!!!
