Mrs. Leick Wins Lakin Outstanding Teacher Award

Jane with her family.

During a surprise special assembly this afternoon in the Treynor High School auditorium, Mrs. Jane Leick was presented with the Charles E. Lakin Award for $10,000. Nomination for this award was done by Senior Duncan Clark and his mother, Julie Clark, who stated "she has taught all four of my children, ending now with Duncan". Presiding over the event was Dr. Lolli Haws, Green Hills AEA Chief Administration and the MC was Jennifer Green. Mrs. Leick was not only shocked by the award, she was also surprised by her children, husband and extended family who were in hiding behind the curtain until the award presentation. After a few moments of speechlessness, Mrs. Leick stated that it is really the great students who make her job easy and fun.  When Dr. Haws asked what the family planned to do with the winnings, Jane and her family all agreed that a family vacation to Florida sounded nice. Mrs. Leick started work at Treynor High School in 2009. Jane currently teaches Anatomy, Human Biology, Sports Medicine, Medical Terminology and Middle School Physical Education. Congratulations, Mrs. Leick, on a well-deserved award.
