Winter Trophy Auction
Remember when both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were Western Iowa Conference Champs in 1975? Well, now you can own one of those trophies by taking part in the Treynor Trophy Auction on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014. The trophies included in the auction are from basketball, track, golf and softball tournaments as well as other activities such as the Brain Bowl. The majority of trophies range from 1960 to 2008, with a few from 1930 to 1957. (Please note: Trophies from state tournaments, district titles, and other major accomplishments will continue to remain on display in the trophy cases and are not a part of the trophy auction.)
The trophies will be on display in the Middle School Commons on Tuesday, December 9th, beginning at 4:00 p.m. From 4:00 pm to the beginning of the high school boys’ game, a silent auction will be held for the high school trophies. The winners will be contacted during halftime of the boys’ game. In addition to the silent auction, a number of Jr. High trophies will be available for $1.00 each. Proceeds will be given to the Treynor Athletic Department.
Treynor Community Schools has hundreds of old trophies that have been put into storage over the years. To make them visible to the public once again, all past trophies are in the process of being photographed and categorized into an electronic digital display. The digital photos will be displayed on a monitor in the trophy case and also on our school website to allow viewing of all the trophies from years past.
