SCHOOL NEWS

 

State GBB & School Schedule - NO SCHOOL WED MARCH 4TH. Girls’ Basketball will be playing in the first round on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:45 a.m. School will not be in session on this day. If they win, they will play in the next round on Friday, March 6th at 11:45 a.m.  School would not be in session on that day. If they lose, we will have school on Friday, March 6th. Read all the details here with links and ticket information for the state tournament

 

A pep bus is being offered for students for Wednesday's game. Sign up with a $25 payment by Noon Tuesday, March 3rd in the MS or HS office.  Cost includes the cost of the game admission ticket. We need a minimum number of riders to have a pep bus, so encourage your friends to sign up.

 

Boys BB Substate Game this Saturday is at 5:00 p.m. The game will be held at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. Tickets for the game should be purchased on the IAHSAA website here. Select Basketball > 2A > Substate Final BB at Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson.  Good luck to the team and coaches as they battle a common foe to earn a trip to State! If you are unable to attend in person, thanks to Olson Eye Care, there will be a livestream available. The livestream will be found on our Hudl page or on the KMA Livestream page.

 

Open Enrollment Deadline is March 2nd. Students wishing to open-enroll into the Treynor School District for the 26-27 school year must apply by Monday, March 2, 2026. Students already open-enrolled in our district do not need to re-apply. Refer to the open-enrollment web article for more information, form links and district goals and achievements.

 

JTW March Madness Senior Scholarship Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026 starting at 7:00 p.m. This is usually a sold-out event, so check out their flier for all the information and get your tickets before they are gone.

 

ACT TEST OPTIONS are available in April, June, and July. It is recommended that juniors take the ACT this spring. Go to myact.org. Register by March 6th for the April 11th test date.

 

Calling All Kindergarteners! Kindergarten Round-Up is scheduled for April 24, 2026. If you would like to register your child, please fill out the information on this form. By registering, you will receive information regarding this event and the upcoming 2026-2027school year.

 

Preschool Registration is Open for the 26-27 school year. The application will be open until our program nears capacity. Fill out the online application here. Applications submitted by resident and non-resident students will be considered for enrollment using a weighted enrollment system.  To be eligible for the preschool program, children must be 4 years old on or before September 15, 2026 or 3 years old and receiving qualifying Special Education services; and have a completed application submitted and on file. The first round of determination letters will be sent by April 1, 2026. MS Canned Food Drive has been extended through Monday, March 2nd. Leadership Academy is hosting a food drive to raise food items for the Care & Share Pantry in Council Bluffs. The study hall with the most raised items wins a pizza party!  Currently, Messerschmidt’s class leads the way with White’s class in 2nd and Reed’s class in 3rd. Please give your donations to your 5th hour study hall. If you have any questions please reach out to Mr. Nichols (lnichols@treynorcardinals.org).

 

Any of the following items plus any canned food can be donated:

Treynor Local Scholarships: If your business or family would like to sponsor a scholarship for a Treynor High School senior, you can reach out to Danie Floerchinger at dfloerchinger@treynorcardinals.org. The scholarship name would join this list of available scholarships. Families/committees would then select the recipient(s).

Hoop Shoot Winners Advance to Regionals! Congratulations to Mallory Olson (8-9 girls)and Caleb Bierbaum (11-12 boys) for advancing to the Regional Elks competition on March 14th in Iowa City.  Best of luck to you!

Sports Trainer’s Schedule: Josh Bintz training room hours for 2025 will be Mondays 3:00-4:30pm and Thursdays 7:30-9:00am.  Injury reports will still be going out regularly via email but as always, feel free to message me with any questions or concerns!

Bus Transportation is for students who have been assigned a bus through the transportation department and routinely ride to and/or from school.  For bus management and student safety, students are only allowed to ride their assigned bus.

 

The speed limit in the school zone on Highway 92 is 25 mph during times when the lights are flashing. The school zone is highlighted in red below. These lights flash in the morning from 7:40 - 8:20 a.m. and in the afternoon from 3:20-3:50 p.m. (1:50-2:20 p.m. on 2:00 p.m. dismissal days). NOTE: The crosswalk flashing is managed by the City of Treynor.
