Optimist Youth Appreciation

Seventeen students were recently honored at the 29th Annual Treynor Optimist Youth Appreciation Program on April 28, 2019.

Being recognized in middle school was 7th graders Ella Ausdemore, Mia Harter, and Charlie Schrage; 8th graders Sam Burmeister, Mira Dreyer and Korbin Horton. Being recognized in high school was 9th graders Norah Beekhuizen and Tyler Christensen; 10th graders Jenna Graybill, Noah James and Stella Umphreys; 11th graders Craig Chapman, Ryan Danker, Emily Morse and Caitlin Reed; 12th graders Sidney Carman and Austin Kulesa.

The event began with a welcome by Optimist President, Dale Willenborg, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by JOI President, Alora Nowlin. The middle school students were then recognized followed by Kale Vorthmann giving his Treynor Optimist oratory contest winning speech on the subject "Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality?". Next, ninth and tenth-grade students were recognized and Clarissa Weitzel gave her Optimist Essay winning speech "When All the World's Problems are Solved, is Optimist Still Necessary?".  Jordan Campbell then spoke and the eleventh and twelth grade students were then recognized . The Optimist Creed was read to close out the ceremony. A reception was then held for the students and their family.

Congratulations to these students for their selection. Criteria for selection is: strong moral character, good personal qualities, positivity in their approach to life, good academic record, personally responsible and a strong sense of civic pride.
