6/5/18 - Congratulations to the girls soccer team for their fabulous season. They ended with a 17-1 record, falling to Class 1A 2nd-ranked Gilbert last evening in the Regional Final. The team has a lone senior star, Kaylee Finnegan, who had 19 goals to her record this year. Derek Martin of KMA summarizes the game and their season nicely in his article found here.

5/30/18 - The girls soccer team was victorious over Underwood, 10-1, in the first round of regional play Tuesday evening. Alexis Kellar led the team with 4 goals, followed by Kaylee Finnegan's 3, Rylie Jacobsen's 2 and Alyssa Kellar's 1. Alyssa added 3 assists to her record. Abby Jacobsen and Callie Copperstone defended the goal well. Next game will be Friday night at home against Tri-Center. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
5/24/18 - The boys soccer team won 7-0 against Riverside to avenge an earlier regular-season loss. This time is when it really matters, as they will now advance to the sub-state final against St. Albert on Saturday at 12:00 Noon at the Cardinal Athletic Complex. 5/23/18 - Both soccer teams are into post-season play. The boys won their first round of district play Monday night against Missouri Valley, 10-0. Connor Wiggins led with 3 goals, followed by PJ Peatrowsky's 2. Quinn Navara, Zach Molde, Luke Mieska, Keaton Mann and Luke Clausen each added one. Seth Young defended the goal and had 7 saves. The boys will face off tonight against Riverside.
The girls closed out the regular season last night with a 6-0 victory over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson. They end their regular season undefeated 15-0. The Daily Nonpareil's article has all the highlights of the game. Regional play for the ladies begins on Tuesday, May 29th.
5/15/18 - Both boys and girls hosted Underwood last evening. The boys were victorious over the Eagles 3-0. Luke Clausen, Keaton Mann and Luke Mieska each scored a goal. Seth Young had 5 saves for the game. It was also senior night, which honored Gabe Carolus, Luke Clausen, Gehard Hansen, Brody Kinnison, Caleb Larsen, Zach Molde, PJ Peatrowsky, Jayedon Thiel, Dom Vacanti, Connor Wiggins and Seth Young. The girls move to14-0 for the season with their 9-2 win. Alyssa Kellar scored 4 and Alexis Kellar scored 2, while Jordynne Piittmann, Kaylee Finnegan, and Rylie Jacobsen scored 1 each. Kaylee Finnegan is the lone senior on the girls' team. The boys have a regular season game Friday at Riverside, before beginning post-season play at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21st at Treynor against Missouri Valley. Tri-Center will be matched up first against Logan-Magnolia in Treynor with a 5:00 p.m. start time. The girls have a home match next Tuesday, May 22nd, against Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson before post-season play begins on Tuesday, May 29th at home against Underwood.
5/10/18 - Treynor played host to Tri-Center on Tuesday, May 8th. The girls remain undefeated with a 3-1 win over the Trojans. Goals were made by Alexis Kellar, Rylie Jacobsen and Jordynne Piittmann. See the nice article by Connor Schuessler of the Daily Nonpareil about the game and the team's season. The boys fell to the Trojan's 1-2 with Quinn Navara socring the lone goal. The boys did did enjoy a road win Monday May 7th against the other Trojans in Atlantic. PJ Peatrowsky scored both goals with an assist by Navara.
5/7/18 - The girls soccer team is literally rolling through the season, leading in goals across Iowa. On April 28th at the Denison-Schleswig Tournament, the girls came away with the Championship trophy, defeating Missouri Valley 10-0, Denison 3-0 and Sioux City North 3-0. Tournament stats include total goals of Kaylee Finnegan (4), Rylie Jacobsen (1), Alexis Kellar (2), Alyssa Kellar (5), Jordynn Piitmann (2), Mia Shipley (1), Livia White (1). Abby Jacobsen had 12 total saves. The Daily Nonpareil had a write-up about this tournament and win. On Monday, April 30th, the Cardinals hosted Sioux City North, who were out to avenge their Saturday loss, but the girls hung tough and won 1-0. Alyssa Kellar was responsible for the lone goal, while Abby Jacobsen had 7 saves and Kayla Chapman had 1. Next on the agenda was a road win at Logan Magnolia on May 4th. It was a 10-0 shut-out, with Alexis & Alyssa Kellar each scoring 2, Rachel Phelps 1, Mia Shipley 2 and Konnor Sudmann 3. On Saturday, the girls played host to Missouri Valley and won another shut-out 10-0. Alyssa Kellar scored 4, Rachel Phelps 3, Kalyee Finnegan 2, and Kayla Chapman 1. Konnor and Rachel had 3 assists each, while Alyssa had 2. Another nice article by Blake Baxter at the the Daily Nonpareil was written this weekend about the girls piling up the goals and wins. Next up is a home game against No. 14 Tri-Center n Tuesday, May 8th.
The boys team record stands at an impressive 7-3. On 4/28 at the Riverside Tournament, the Cardinals defeated the Lo-Ma Panthers 4-0 and the Tri-Center Trojans 4-0, but lost to AHSTW 1-2. Making goals in the Lo-Ma match were Keaton Mann (1), Luke Mieska (10) and Dom Vacanti (2). Luke Mieska, PJ Peatrowsky and Connor Wiggins scored goals in the Tri-Center game, while Seth Young had 11 saves. The game vs. the Vikings, Seth had 12 saves and Max Schweer scored the lone goal. On May 1st at home against Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, the boys lost 1-3. Connor Wiggins had the long goal. Seth Young had an impressive 24 saves! At Logan Magnolia on May 4th, the team won 10-0. Leading the goals were PJ Peatrowsky and Connor Wiggins with 4 each. Keaton Mann and Quinn Navara each added a goal. Seth Young had 9 saves while Noah McCombs, Luke Mieska, PJ Peatrosky, Max Schweer and Connor Wiggins also added assists to their stats.
4/27/18 - The boys' soccer team has two more games and two more wins on their record. On March 24th, they hosted Clarinda Academy and won 15-0. Connor Wiggins led the scoring stats with 3 goals. Luke Clausen, Luke Mieska, Quinn Navara and PJ Peatrowsky each scored 2, while teammates Caleb Larsen, Max Schweer, Jayedon Thiel and Dom Vacanti contributed with 1 goal each. On April 26th, they traveled to Panorama and won 9-0. Luke Mieska led the scoring with 3 goals, while teammates Luke Clausen and PJ Peatrowsky added 2 each. Keaton Mann and Max Schweer both added a goal apiece. The boys next play in a tournament at Riverside High School on Saturday, April 28, 2018.
Meanwhile, the girls' team has had twice as many matches. On April 19th at Riverside, the Lady Cardinals handled the Bulldogs 10-0. Rylie Jacobsen led scoring with 4 goals. Alylssa Kellar and Rachel Phelps each scored 2, and Alexis Kellar and Jordynne Piittmann scored 1. On, April 20th, Treynor played host to Atlantic with the Cardinals winning 10-0. The Kellar Sisters led in team stats with 4 goals each. Kaylee Finnegan scored an addition 2. Underwood was the next opponent on April 24th at the Eagles' home. The Cardinals were victirious 6-0. Callie Copperstone made a great effort with 6 saves. Kaylee Finnega and Rachel Phelps each scored 2, while teammates Rylie Jacobsen and Aleix Kellar added 1. A long trip home from Panorama on April 26th was made more sweet when celebrating an 11-1 victory. JOrdynne Piitmann had 2 saves and Jordan Lowe had 1. Team scoring was led by the Kellar Sisters with 3 each, while teammates Kaylee Finnegan (2), Rachel Phelps (1), Rylie Jacobsen (1) and Konnor Sudmann (1) all contributed with goals. The team has a tournament in Denison on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

4/20/18 - Despite the non-springlike weather, the boys and girls soccer teams have had enough games to get some stats on the record books. The boys team played Harlan on March 29th and narrowly lost 0-1. On April 5th, they traveled to Conestoga and won that match 8-0. On April 12th, they hosted Nodaway Valley and won with confidence, 17-0. Of those games, PJ Peatrowsky leads with 9 goals, followed by Dom Vacanti, Connor Wiggins and Luke Clausen each contributing 3, while Luke Mieska, Seth Young, Max Schweer, Keaton Mann and Brody Kinnison have added a goal or two total. Luke M. and Caleb Larsen lead the team with 6 and 4 assists respectively, while Seth Young adds 17 saves to his record.
The girls have two games on record. As a visitor at Nodaway Valley on April 10th, they won 7-0. On April 12th, they played at and against Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln and won an exciting match in overtime 1-0. The team is led in scoring by Alyssa and Alexis Kellar with 3 and 2 goals each. Kaylee Finnegan and Rachel Phelps have each contributed to the goal stats as well. Freshman Callie Copperstone has tended the goal well with 14 saves. The team is a well-rounded team with potential for a great season.
