Dance Team Earns Top Ratings at State

The Treynor dance team competed at the Iowa State Dance Team Association competition in Des Moines on Thursday, November 28, 2012. The team earned an academic award for excellence with a GPA of 3.0-3.49. Out of 270 teams that were in attendance only 4 teams were recognized for outstanding community service. The Treynor dance team was one of the four that received a plaque for their monthly community service projects. The girls bring ideas to the team for service activities and choose a variety of ways to assist in the community. They have also invited other students to join them in projects that place the team in a role of leadership and role models for others.

During the dance competition the team earned a Division 1 rating for their pom routine. The girls also earned a Division 1 rating and a 5th place trophy for their Novelty routine. Treynor dance team history was made in Des Moines, as the team brought the first ever Treynor co-ed routine to state competition. The co-ed boys and girls brought home a Division 1 rating with a 4th place trophy! The team is coached by Jann Strutzenberg and assistant Brenda Norris. Team Manager is Brooke Goss.
