Team Advances to Regionals Tuesday

2/5/18:  Congratulations to the Treynor Wrestling Team for placing 2nd in team points to advance to Team Regionals on Tuesday, February 6th in Logan. Regional pairings can be found on the IAHSAA website here.  Brock Fox, Ian Dinsmore and Brennon Mauer all move on individually and will compete at Districts in Riverside on Saturday, February 9th. Tournament start time is 12:00 p.m.  Good luck!

1/23/18: Several matches and tournaments have occurred since the last update. On January 6th, the wrestling team attended the Tri-Center tournament, followed by a dual at Missouri Valley on the 8th and a Tri at Treynor on the 9th. Senior night was celebrated for Chase Haas and Nolan Hansen on the 9th.  On January 18th, Underwood hosted a meet and the Cardinals defeated St. Albert and Woodbine but fell to Underwood.  On Saturday, January 20th, the team participated in the tournament at Colfax-Mingo. Treynor fell to Knoxfille in their first dual, beat North Mahaska in the second and finished fourth for the day. The remainder of the season consists of a Tri at Griswold on January 25th, a JV only tournament at East Mills on the 27th, and a Quad at Denison on the 30th. Sectionals will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at Underwood, with Districts the next Saturday, February 10th at Riverside. Good luck to the team as they finish their regular season and enter post season. 

Congratulations to Coach Dean Leaders for being nominated by his peers for the 1A Southwest Iowa Coach of the Year. Awards will be announced at the final session of the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament.

1/8/18: Treynor hosted Conestoga, East Mills and Riverside on Thursday, January 4th. Conestoga won again the Cards 51-28. Cardinal wins during the Conestoga match went to Burhenne, Smith, Kulesa and Coleman. Treynor defeated East Mills 48-36. Open weight wins at 285, 106 and 113, while Carberry won with a pin at 220. Cards vs. Riverside resulted in a Bulldog win, 47-29. Haas, Burhenne, Coleman, and Dinsmore each had wins in their matches..

12/15/17: Congratulations to the team for finishing fourth place at the WIC Duals that were held Friday & Saturday in Tri-Center.

12/11/17: From the Treynor Wrestling Facebook page: "Lots of learning on the mat, today, in Lenox. Watch for pictures over the next couple days. Congratulations to Brennon (Mauer) for his Championship placement, Chase (Haas) 4th, Chase (Reber) 3rd, Mitch (Lutz) 3rd, Ian (Dinsmore) 3rd and Dawson (Goss) 2nd."

12/8/17: Treynor Wrestling season started on November 28th at Sidney. Treynor won against Woodbine 52-30 and the final score of the Treynor / SWI match was 60-24.  The next event was the Treynor Wrestling tournament at home on December 3rd. The Cardinals placed 3rd overall with 145 total points. On December 5th, the team traveled to Kuemper High School for a Quad. The team was victorious over Griswold 54-30, lost to Kuemper 26-50 but then defeated Shenandoah 40-39.

Next up is the tournament at Lenox on Saturday, December 9th.
