Working...
Spanish 1 will be starting the year with reviewing some items from their 8th grade exploratory. We'll start with Unit 1: Dice, which will cover boy/girl, he/she says, and he/she likes. Not only will students continue building their Spanish base, but they'll also learn about different cultural elements and major festivals. Over the first semester, we'll learn about major running events in Spanish-Speaking countries and the Panama Canal before reading our first class novel in Spanish! Our books are published by Fluency Matters, which publishes books that are specially written for language learners.
Next, semester we'll learn about different jobs and Spanish-speaking universities, bullfighting culture, and the human towers of Castell just to name a few. While learning about these amazing topics, students will be working to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Spanish.
Fun Phrase to Learn: "¿Cómo te llamas?" means "What's your name?" in Spanish. To respond, you can say "Me llamo..." which means "My name is..."
This was our focus for the beginning of the year to get to know our classmates.
