School Closure Extended for the Remainder of the School Year

4-17-2020

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has determined that Iowa schools should remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Therefore, the Treynor Community School will remain closed until the last scheduled day of the school year, Friday, May 29. All school events, activities, and practices are cancelled during the school closure.

We can all agree that the last several weeks have been some of the most difficult that we have endured as a school community. One of the issues we have struggled with the most is how to ensure that students have an opportunity to continue learning, while also respecting the varied and unique situations that affect many of our students and families.

To help reconcile learning with the well-being of our students and families, we have chosen to offer voluntary education opportunities for K-12 students. Since the initial closure, our teachers have provided a variety of learning and enrichment activities, and they will continue to provide these opportunities for the remainder of the closure. While these activities are not “required learning,” we strongly encourage parents and families to support participation while students are at home. We want all students to stay engaged in learning as much as possible.  Keep on learning, Treynor!

Stay healthy…stay strong!
