Congrats on a Great Season
11/9/18 - The Treynor volleyball team played an amazing match against powerhouse Western Christian in the state quarterfinals in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. The Cardinals dominated in the first two sets, but the Wolfpack came back to win the next 3. The team and coaches should hold their heads high for their phenomenal season! 10/30/18 - Congratulations to the volleyball players and coaches for earning a trip to State Volleyball next week in Cedar Rapids. Treynor defeated St. Albert tonight 3-2 (25-23, 26-28, 25-15, 21-25, 15-12) in a hard fought battle at Lewis Central High School. Based on the IGHSAU state parings Treynor will play Western Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be no school on Wednesday. If/when the girls win Wednesday, they would play at 4:00 on Thursday and school would dismiss at 11:00 with no lunch being served. If/when the girls win Thursday, they would play at 4:45 Friday and school would dismiss at 11:00 with no lunch being served. 10/29/18 - The Cardinal volleyball team is one win away from earning a trip to state. Tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Central High School, Treynor will take on the Falcons of St. Albert. The teams have met twice this season in tournament play. Treynor defeated St. Albert 21-18 / 21-19 in a September 8th tournament in Atlantic and again on September 29th at a Thomas Jefferson tournament. In that battle, Treynor won the first match 21-10, lost the second 10-21 and won the third 21-6. All those matches aside, the one tomorrow night is the one that counts. Come out and support the Treynor Cardinal Volleyball team!
10/23/18 - Congratulations to the volleyball team on their first-round Regional sweep last evening over AHSTW. They advance to the next round against Earlham, being held here on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
10/15/18 - The team did it again! They played in a tournament on Saturday in Winterset and came away with the Championship trophy. They defeated Norwalk in 2 (21-11, 21-13), Green County in 2 (21-10, 21-7) and Atlantic in 2 (21-13, 21-8) in pool play. In the semi-final round they swept Chariton 21-12, 21-8 before advancing to the final round against Norwalk. In the championship match, they narrowly defeated Norwalk in 2 (21-19, 21-19). The girls have this week to prepare for next week's Regional Tournaments, which begin at home on Monday, October 22nd. The 2A brackets are posted to the IGHSAU website. 10/12/18 - Congratulations to the volleyball team for defeating Tri-Center in three (25-23, 25-19, 25-20) last evening to become the WIC Champions, ending the Trojans' 3-year WIC Conference reign. This win brings the Cardinal's record to 25-7. Read the full details on this WIC match-up in the Nonpareil's article. The girls have one more tournament at Winterset tomorrow before starting post-season play on Monday, October 22nd.
10/10/18 - The Cardinals faced the Trojans at Tri-Center High School last Tuesday and lost 2-3. After losing the first two matches (17-25, 22-25), they battled back to win the next two (25-18, 25-12) but then lost some momentum in the final set, ending with an 11-15 loss. Sydni Huisman had 16 kills and Mia Shipley had 13, while Konnor Sudmann had 10. Kayla Chapman and Konnor also had an impressive 94% serve stat for the night. Last Thursday, Treynor hosted Underwood and won 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
First-round matches for Western Iowa Conference volleyball was held on Treynor on Monday, October 8th. Treynor defeated Missouri Valley in 3 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17). Logan-Magnolia hosted on Tuesday and Treynor played Underwood and won in 3 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18). The girls will get a chance to avenge their loss to Tri-Center last week, when they meet up with them in WIC Championship play Thursday at Logan-Magnolia High School.
10/2/18 - The volleyball team has been busy this last week, with two meets and a tournament. At Riverside on Tuesday, September 25th, the Cardinals defeated the Bulldogs in 3 (25-12, 25-15, 25-13). On Thursday, September 26th at home, the Cardinals hosted the Big Reds of Missouri Valley, winning in 3 (25-13, 25-18, 25-17). On Saturday, September 29th at Thomas Jefferson, the Cardinals were Champions. To get there, the team defeated Heartland Christian 2-0, Thomas Jefferson 2-1, Shenandoah 2-1 (18-21, 21-19, 15-11) and St. Albert 2-1 (10-21, 21-10, 15-6). Next up is Tri-Center at the Trojans' gym. This is the annual Pink Out event that Treynor and Tri-Center trade off hosting each year. Wear your pink to show support for those affected by cancer.
9/24/18 - Treynor enjoyed a victorious evening battling against conference foe, Logan-Magnolia last Thursday. The Cardinals outscored the Panthers 25-14, 25-14, 25-23. Seniors Konnor Sudmann and Sydni Huisman led the charge with 8 kills each, while teammate Kayla Chapman added 6. Konnor, Sydni, Kayla and Stella Umphreys all served 100%. Sophomore Quinn Navara led with 15 assists. Next up on the calendar is the Riverside Bulldogs at Riverside High School Tuesday night.
9/20/18 - The Treynor Volleyball team has been busy over the last week in conference and non-conference matches. On September 13th, the Cardinals were visitors to Audubon and quickly came away with the win, sweeping the Wheelers 3-0. At Glenwood on Saturday, September 15th, the girls faced tough competition losing to Sidney 1-2, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln 0-2, Mount Vernon 1-2, and Red Oak 0-2, but winning against both Creston and Harlan 2-0. On Tuesday, September 18th, the team played at AHSTW and defeated the Vikings in 3. The Cardinals will host the Panthers of Logan-Magnolia on Thursday, September 20th.
9/10/18 - Congratulations to the Cardinal Volleyball team for winning the Atlantic volleyball tournament on Saturday. They faced off against Underwood first and won 21-19 / 21-13. The second match was against Glenwood, and the Cardinals handled the Rams 22-20 / 21-14. The third round, the girls were up against the hosts and the Cardinals defeated the Trojans 21-12 / 21-7. Next was a close competition against St. Albert, with the Cardinals flying over the Falcons 21-18 and 21-19. The final round saw Treynor defeating Winterset 21-11 / 21-17 to earn the Championship trophy. Prior to Saturday, the team had traveled to IKM-Manning and won the match 3-1.
8/26/18 - The volleyball team participated in a tournament on Saturday in Harlan. The Cardinals took out Logan Magnolia in the first match and battled to beat Indianola in the second match. Cards then took out East Sac in two sets, but failed to beat Tri-Center in three sets. In the Silver Division, the Cardinals faced off against Council Bluffs AL and lost in two. They then played against the host tame and won in 2 sets. The varsity team will have over a week to practice before facing WIC opponent IKM-Manning on Thursday, September 6th. JV has a tournament coming up at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30th in Tri-Center.
