District Champions

10/31/18 - Congratulations to the All-District honorees in Class 1A District 9. Kyle Christensen was voted Defensive Player of the Year and Luke Mieska was voted Special Teams Player of the Year, while Coach Casey was named Coach of the Year. Read KMA's article for all the information.

10/29/18 - A big congratulations to the Treynor Football players and coaches for a fabulous season! District champs and state playoff appearance is a great accomplishment! Read about the tough loss Friday night in Hawarden at the Daily Nonpareil.

10/22/18 - Congratulations to the football team for winning their last regular season game against the Braves Friday night in Cherokee. The Cardinals cap off their regular season with an 8-1 record. They will play in the first-round playoffs against West Sioux in Hawarden, Iowa Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Read Derek Martin's article about the players and the playoff outlook. 10/15/18 - MVAOCOU made the trip to Cardinal Field Friday night and went away with a loss to Treynor. The Cardinals outscored the Rams 55-14. Team scoring was led by Kyle Christensen (12), Jake Fisher (12), Luke Mieska (7 PATs), Tommy Duysen (6), Noah James (6), Sid Schaaf (6) and Jack Stogdill (6). The game stats reveal that many players had an opportunity to play. With this win, the Treynor Cardinals are District Champions. The final game of the regular season will be held Friday in Cherokee.

10/9/18 - The Big Re)ds of Missouri Valley came to Cardinal Field last Friday night and went away with a decisive loss to the physical team of Treynor. Contributing to the 47 points were Jake Fisher with 3 touchdowns, Kyle Christiansen with 2 touchdowns, Tommy Duysen and Will Halverson with 1 touchdown each and Luke Mieska adding 5 PATs. The Cardinal defense was successful in holding the Big Reds to just one touchdown. Leading the dominant defense was Chase Reber with 13 total tackles (9 solo). Craig Chapman, Broc Livengood, Kyle and Tommy are also credited with fumble recoveries. Read all the impressive game stats at Quick Stats Iowa. Next up is a home game Friday night against MVAOCOU.

10/1/18 - Treynor went on the road Friday night to Underwood and defeated the Eagles 28-26. Kyle Christensen led the team on both sides, making a touchdown in the 3rd quarter and returning a tipped pass to the 8-yard line in the 4th quarter, setting the Cardinals up for a second touchdown run by Jake Fisher. Kyle also had 5 solo tackles and 6 assists. Jake also connected to Nate Molde for a 50-yard touchdown in the first half. Luke Mieska was 4 for 4 on PAT attempts. Chase Reber was barrier on the defense, getting 5 solo tackles and 6 assists. Austin Kulesa also was instrumental on the Cardinal Defense, getting a credit of 4 tackle assists. Next up is a home game against Missouri Valley this Friday where they will battle for first in 1A District 9.

9/24/18 - Treynor hosted East Sac County Friday night in a District 9 game, with both teams overcoming the delayed start of the game. Once the game began though, the contest was a back and forth scoring battle. With Treynor up 21-14, the Raiders scored by pushing through the line on multiple short runs. The visitors opted to try for a 2-point conversion, but the Cardinal defense held strong to stop them, leaving the Raiders trailing by 1. With less than a minute left on the clock, the Cardinals were once again in the Red Zone, but opted to kneel the ball to run out the time. Jake Fisher rushed for 81 yards and passed for 70. Jack Stogdill, Kyle Christensen and Jack Tiarks all scored touchdowns. Luke Mieska was successful in all PATs. Kyle Christensen led with 5 solo tackles. Kristian Martens led the team with 10 tackle assists, while he was credited with 8 total tackles and 2 for losses. Kyle, Austin Kulesa, Broc Livengood and Chase Reber each were credited with 7 tackle assists. Next on the schedule is Treynor at Underwood this Friday. 

9/19/18 - Treynor hosted Red Oak for Homecoming 2018 and came away with a well-deserved victory, shutting out the Tigers 21-0. Quarterback Jake Fisher passed for 227 yards and was credited with two touchdowns, one of which was a 99-yard run by Will Halverson. Will also had another touchdown on a 64-yard run. The other touchdown was made by Jack Tiarks on a 10-yard run. Luke Mieska was 3 for 3 on PATs. Chase Reber led the team with 9 tackles, followed by Kyle Christensen with 7. Next up is East Sac County at home on September 21st. Derek Martin of KMA has written an article about this upcoming game, which is the first District 9 game.   

9/10/18 - Treynor traveled to Shenandoah on Friday, September 7th and despite a soggy and muddy field, the Cardinals defeated the Mustangs 33-7. Treynor overcame several penalties but still managed to come out ahead in the end. Read more details on this match-up from KMA's Dean Adkins. The Cardinals' next game is this Friday's Homecoming match-up against the Red Oak Tigers. 

9/4/18 - On Friday, August 31st, the team played St. Albert at Falcon Field and came up short on the scoreboard, 20-30. It was a battle that is hard to lose, but Coach Casey says there is plenty to be excited about. Read the Daily Nonpareil's article for a complete game recap. Next on the agenda is an away game at Shenandoah on Friday.

8/26/18 - The Cardinal Football season opened with the first official game against Logan Magnolia at home Friday night. The team enjoyed a 28-7 victory over the Panthers.
