5K Run/Carnival on May 12th

The "Miles for Micaiah: 5K for a Cause" is coming up on May 12th. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon. The run begins in the Circle Drive of the Middle School. Carnival Games will include fishing, ring toss, bean bag throw, spinning wheel and face paint. Twenty tickets will cost $5. This is all to raise money and awareness for Micaiah Sedlacek, who needs a kidney transplant. See the flyer for details.

Micaiah is a senior at Treynor High School and was diagnosed with Granulomatosis with polyangiitis which is an uncommon disorder that has caused an inflammation of the blood vessels in his kidneys. As a result, he has received ongoing kidney dialysis and chemotherapy in addition to several hospital stays and many doctor appointments. It appears that a kidney transplant is inevitable. Obviously, medical expenses have been and will be very costly.  Learn a little about Micaiah in his YouTube video interview with fellow senior, Annaliese McCain. 

In an effort to help Micaiah and his family with the rising medical expenses, there are several fundraisers:
