Girls/Boys Soccer News

6/5/17 ~ The girls soccer season ended Friday night against the Falcons 1-4 in the 2nd round of regional play. This team enjoyed the most wins of any Cardinal girls soccer team since the program began four years ago. The girls graduate 10 seniors in Casey Black, Kaylie Blackledge, Emily Carley, Haylie Faubel, Brooklyn Houser, Emily Owens, Anna Reelfs, Baylee Ruby, Morgan Showalter, and Shelby Toms. Great job to the team on an exceptional year!

5/31/17 ~ Congratulations to the girls soccer team for defeating Riverside last evening in the first round of regional tournament play. The Cardinals advance to the next round Friday night against St. Albert in Council Bluffs. The address for the field is 2390 23rd Avenue. Bring your lawn chairs and wear red. Start time is 5:00 p.m. GO CARDS!

5/30/17 ~ The boys made it into the Substate Finals on Saturday against St. Albert. The outcome of that game was a 0-2 loss to the Saints.  The Cardinals should be proud of their accomplishments for this season!

Girls Regional play begins tonight at home against Riverside. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Good luck, Ladies!

5/25/17 ~ The boys soccer team went into overtime in a Sub-State Semi-Final game against AHSTW Wednesday night at home and came away with the win just 30 seconds later with a 35-yard goal from Connor Wiggins. The Cardinals will face off against St. Albert in Sub-State Finals at home on Saturday at Noon. The winner of this contest will advance to State next week. 5/23/17 ~ The boys soccer team defeated the Underwood Eagles 2-0 last evening in Sub-State Soccer play to advance to the next round. The Cardinals will play AHSTW on Wednesday night at Treynor. Game time is 7 p.m.

5/16/17 ~ Congratulations to the boys & girls soccer teams for their wins over the Underwood Eagles last night. The girls triumphed with a 5-1 win. The boys won 1-0. Scoring for the girls was Finnegan (x3) and Kellar (x2).  The lone score for the boys came from Vacanti. The next scheduled soccer match is at home Friday night for the boys varsity team against Riverside. Game time is 5:30 p.m. 

5/10/17 ~ Boys and girls visited Tri-Center for soccer matches Tuesday evening. The boys held on to win 3-2 with Connor Wiggins leading the charge with 2 goals. PJ Peatrowsky had 1 goal. Seth Young, Luke Clausen and Luke Mieska all had assists.  The girls were defeated by the Trojans 2-4. Finnegan and Keller both made goals for the team.

5/8/17 ~ The boys had two soccer matches last week. On may 4th, they hosted the Rams of Glenwood and lost 0-1. On Friday, May 5th they traveled to Council Bluffs to play the Lynx. They fell to them 1-2. 

4/28/17 ~ Last evening at home for Senior Night, the girls team defeated the Lady Vikes 5-1, while the boys fell to AHSTW 0-2. 

4/25/17 ~ The girls played in Glenwood Monday evening and the Rams were just too much for the Cardinals to handle. Coach Brady commended the girls for "playing as a team full of heart and drive."  Alexis Kellar and Emily Owens scored the lone goals for Treynor.

4/22/17 ~ Girls Soccer hosted Atlantic Friday night and enjoyed another win. Kaylie and Anna both scored 2 goals, while Emily O and Alexis K scored 1. Alexis also also scored on a penalty kick. Brooklyn Houser and Jordynne Pittman served as goalies for the night, holding the Trojans scoreless.

4/21/17 ~ Girls Soccer hosted Riverside Thursday and came away with a 10-0 victory. Kaylee Finnegan led scoring with 3 goals, while Alexis Kellar had 2. Kaylie Blackledge, Rylie Linehan, Jordynne Piittmann, Anna Reelfs and Emily Owens all scored one to give the girls a commanding win.

4/19/17 ~ The varsity boys and girls played at AHSTW Tuesday evening.  The girls won 2-1 in overtime. Anna Reelfs scored the lone goal during regulation play. Kaylie Blackledge scored 1 during OT, to give the Cardinals the victory. 

A great effort was made from the boys, who lost in a heartbreaker. PJ Peatrowsky scored on a PK, and the Vikings answered back with a tiebreaker before the half. The Vikes scored 1 in the second half and the Cardinals weren't abe to answer back before the end of the game.

4/18/17 ~ The boys traveled on Thursday, April 13th to Nodaway and came away with a 4-0 victory. PJ Peatrowsky and Dom Vacanti each scored 2 goals. The girls played at Council Bluffs Gae Wickersham Athletic Complex on Thursday, April 13th and lost 0-5 to the Lynx.

4/12/17 ~ The boys and girls hosted West Central Valley Tuesday night. The girls defeated the Wildcats 2-0 with both goals coming from Kaylee Finnegan, while the boys were defeated in a close match 2-3. Quinn Navara and PJ Peatrowsky contributed one goal each. Next up for the boys is a JV/V away match at Nodaway Valley on Thursday. Varsity boys play first at 5:00 p.m. with JV to follow. The girls will travel Thursday to Council Bluffs' Wickersham Athletic Complex. Varsity girls play first against Abraham Lincoln at 5:00 p.m., and JV follows at 6:30 p.m.

4/10/17 ~ Friday night, April 7th, was a home soccer match against WIC foe, the Underwood Eagles. The Cardinals Boys Soccer Team came away victorious 2-0. Both goals were scored by Junior PJ Peatrowsky. The girls lost a hard-fought battle against the Eagles, 0-2. Next up is a varsity girls/boys match at West Central Valley.

4/7/17 ~ Cardinal Boys' Soccer already has three games completed. Their first game was held at Harlan on March 30th and the 3A Cyclones were just a little too much for the Cardinals, who lost 0-3. The next two games were held at home, with the Cardinals winning 9-0 in both matches. Missouri Valley was the opponent on March 31st and Conestoga on April 6th. Quinn Navara was the leading scorer against the Big Reds with 3 goals for the Missouri Valley game. Dom Vacanti added 2 goals. In the April 6th Conestoga game, PJ Peatrowsky and Dom Vacanti scored 2 each with Brody Kinnison, Caleb Larsen, Luke Mieska and Connor Wiggins adding one apiece. One goal was credited to the Cardinals for a Cougar deflection. The Cardinals are coached by Bob Daley and Jason McIntosh.

4/5/2017 ~ Girls Soccer is off to a great start. The Varsity team defeated Missouri Valley Tuesday at the Big Reds' field 3-0. Emily Owens had 2 goals, and Alexis Kellar had 1 goal and 1 assist. Brooklyn Houser was goalie and helped to keep it a shut out game. The JV team won 2-0. Goals were made by Kaylee Finnegan and Chloe Gregory. Caitlyn Reed was goalie and helped to keep it a shut out game.
