Girls/Boys Track News

5/22/17 ~ Congratulations to the girls and boys track teams on a great showing at State Track last week. Medal winners included Noel James, 5th place, in the 400 Meter Dash; Brett Daley, Silver, in both the 400 Meter Dash and 400 Meter Hurdles; The Boys Sprint Medley Team (Halverson, Boese, Reed, Daley), Bronze; and the Girls Sprint Medley Team (Harter, Olsen, Carley, James), 8th place. The boys team finished in the top 10 of team standings, tied for 9th with 22 points. All athletes should be proud of their accomplishments this season. 5/12/17 ~ District Qualifying was held at Missouri Valley on Thursday, May 11th and both the Cardinal Boys and Girls track teams won district titles. The girls scored in the top two in 10 events, which earns an automatic entry to state. The boys earned automatic entries in 7 events. 

The following individual & relay teams automatically qualified:

  • McKayla Olsen in the 100M Dash
  • Noel James in the 400M Dash
  • Sienna Black in the High Jump
  • Maddie Shipley in the Long Jump
  • Madelyn Deitchler in the Shot Put
  • The 4x100M Relay Team (Konnor S, Megan C, Regan H, McKayla O, Alternates: Maddie S, Sarah F)
  • The 4x200M Relay Team (Regan H, Sarah F, McKayla O, Megan C Alternates: Noel J, Maddie S)
  • The 4x400M Relay Team (Regan H, Megan C, Sienna B, Noel J Alternates: Kennedy E, Chloe G)
  • The 4x800M Relay Team (Anna T, Sienna B, Kennedy E, Noel J Alternate: Megan C)
  • The 800-Sprint Medley Relay (Regan H, McKayla O, Megan C, Noel J Alternates: Sarah F, Maddie S)

5/10/17 ~ District Qualifying will be held Thursday, May 11th at Missouri Valley. The boys and girls track teams are looking good going into the qualifying meet. Read a great article by KMA here.

5/9/17 ~ Seven points is what Treynor beat Logan Magnolia by in the Girls Trojan Relays at Tri-Center Monday evening. Top 3 finishers in their events were: McKayla Olsen finished 1st in the 100M Dash; Noel James finished 2nd in the 200M Dash; Anna Tiegland was 2nd in the 800M Run; Konnor Sudmann was 2nd in the 100M Hurdles; Tori Castle finished 2nd in the 3000M Run; Sienna Black was 1st in the High Jump; Maddie Shipley was 3rd in Long Jump; The 4x100M Relay team (Konnor, Megan C, Regan H, McKayla O) finished 1st; the 4x200M Relay Team (Regan H, Sarah F, Sienna B, Megan C) was 1st; the 4x400M Relay Team (Siena B, Megan C, Regan H, Noel J) was 2nd; and the 4x800M Relay Team (Anna T, Sienna B, Kennedy E, Noel J) was 2nd. 5/6/17 ~ A co-ed meet was held at Underwood high School on Friday evening. There was a small pool of teams there, which gave the runners a chance to try a few different events. Both the boys and girls were Champions! See Aspimeetz results for all the details.

5/3/17 ~ A beautiful evening at Treynor last evening brought about a sweep for both the boys and girls in Western Iowa Conference Track.  The girls outscored their opponent by 46 points (Treynor had 177, Logan-Magnolia scored 131).  The boys outscored Underwood by 23 points, scoring 138 total points. 4/28/17 ~ A few Treynor athletes have qualified for the Drake Relays. Senior Brett Daley qualified in the Long Jump and 400 Hurdles. Brett will be jumping Friday at 9:30 a.m. and running in the 400 Hurdles at 1:36 p.m. Saturday. The Girls 4x100 relay team of Megan Carley, Noel James, Regan Harter and McKayla Olsen qualified and will run at 5:10 p.m. Friday.  Great job, Cardinals!

4/28/17 ~ Congratulations to the girls track team for winning the Woodbine Hummel relays Thursday. They finished with a team score of 216, winning 8 individual events and 5 relays. Review the final results here.

4/26/17 ~ Boys and Girls Track were champions at the Audubon Relays Tuesday evening. Read the Nonpareil article or see Aspitmeetz results for all the great stats,  and finishes.

4/25/17 ~ The boys track team participated in the Glenwood Ram Co-Ed  Relays Monday evening and scored a respectabe 52.5 points to earn 8th place. View the Aspitmeetz results for the all the meet details.

4/22/17 ~ Girls Track participated in the Underwood Girls Eagle Relays Friday evening and fell 6 1/2 points short of Logan Magnolia's first place finish. Many Cardinals finished in the top 8 to contribute to the 143 points earned. Take a look at all their great finishes in Aspimeetz.

4/21/17 ~ Boys Track took the title at Griswold's Tiger Relays Thursday evening with a team score of 153 (43 points ahead of 2nd place Clarinda). View the Aspitmeetz results for all the details and winners.

4/18/17 ~ The Cardette Relays were held on a beautiful spring Monday at Cardinal Athletic Field. Sixteen teams competed with Logan Magnolia taking 1st place with 131 points, and Treynor coming in a close 2nd with 129 points. Top 3 event finishers are: McKayla Olsen 1st, 100M Dash, 13.22; Megan Carley 1st, 200M Dash, 27.27; Megan Carley 3rd, 400M Dash, 1:03.20; Noel James 1st, 800M Run, 2:31.47; Konnor Sudmann 1st, 100M Hurdles, 16.24; Sienna Black 1st, High Jump, 5-00; Konnor Sudmann 2nd, High Jump, 4-10; Maddie Shipley 2nd, Long Jump, 15-07.75; 4x200M Relay Team (Regan Harter, Noel James, Maddie Shipley, McKayla Olsen) 2nd, 1:55.21; 4x400M Relay Team (Sienna Black, Regan Harter, Kennedy Elwood, Noel James) 2nd, 4:24.48; 4x800M Relay Team (Anna Tiegland, Kennedy Elwood, Sydney Carman, Noel James) 2nd, 10:26.56; 1600-Distance Medley Relay Team (Maddie Shipley, Sarah Fremstad, Chloe Gregory, Sienna Black) 2nd, 4:34.18. 4/16/17 ~ The boys won the Underwood Eagle Relays on Thursday, April 13th with 132 points. Underwood came in second with 109, followed by Missouri Valley with 66. The girls traveled to Tri-Center on Thursday, April 13th and came away with 2nd place. The girls scored 128 points, behind Denison Schleswig's 145. 4/12/17 ~ The boys have had a busy week so far with a meet Monday at Tri-Center and Tuesday at Harlan. The boys won the Tri-Center meet with 140 points, besting St. Albert's 101. They won 8 events and placed 2nd in 4 events. Read the KMA article for their write-up or see Aspimeetz for all the stats. At Harlan, the team placed 5th with 74 team points, behind Lewis Central, Atlantic, Thomas Jefferson and Harlan. Read the Nonpareil article for the their write-up or see Aspimeetz for all the stats.

The girls competed in the Lewis Central Track Meet held at Iowa Western Community College on Tuesday. Top results include: Shot: Madelyn Deitchler 3rd with 35-6; High Jump: Sienna Black 3rd with 5-0; 4 by 800: 2nd with Anna Teigland, Kennedy Elwood, Tori Castle, Sienna Black with 10:33.73; Shuttle Hurdle: 3rd with Kennedy Elwood, Sarah Fremstad, Sydney Carman, Konnor Sudmann with 1:16.72; 100 Meter Dash: Megan Carley 2nd with 13.20; D Med: 2nd with Maddie Shipley, Regan Harter, Sienna Black, Noel James with 4:32.42; 4 x 200: 3rd with Megan Carley, Regan Harter, Maddie Shipley, McKayla Olsen with 1:55.49; 100 Hurdles: 3rd Konnor Sudmann with 17.13; 200: 3rd with Sarah Fremstad with 28.47; 4 x 100: Regan Harter, Noel James, Megan Carley, McKayla Olsen with 52.34; 4 x 400: Megan Carley, Sienna Black, Regan Harter, Noel James with 4:18.51. 4/10/17 ~ The boys traveled to Denison Friday, April 7th and placed first with 171 points, 35 points over the 2nd place finisher of Denison Schleswig. Brett Daley placed 1st in Long Jump, 100 Meter Dash and 400 hurdles. Trey Castle placed 1st in the 1600 and 3200, with Jerry Jorgenson following close behind. Jake Houser placed 1st in the 200. The 4x8 team of Chase Reed, Craig Chapman, Jack Stogdill and Dillon Fauble placed 1st. The 4x4 team of Chase Reed, Jake Houser, Jacob Schwarte and Dillon Fauble also placed first. the 4x1 team of Broc Livengood, Jake Fisher, Will Halverson, and Nolan Boese placed 2nd. Placing 2nd in Shuttle Hurdle Relay were Jake Fisher, Brett Daley, Jake Houser and Broc Livengood. Chase Reed placed 2nd in the 100 Meter Dash and Dillon Faubel placed 2nd in the high jump. 4/7/17 ~ The Boys track team hosted the Jerome Howe Relays on Monday, April 3rd and placed 1st place by scoring 58 points more than second-place finisher, St. Albert. Brett Daley heavily contributed to the team score by winning in the long jump, 400-meter dash and 400 hurdles. The sprint medley team of Chase Reed, Will Halverson, Jakob Houser and Brett Daley also took the gold. Jerry Jorgenson and Trey Castle gave strong performances in the 800, 1600 and 3200, with Jerry winning the 3200 and Castle placing 2nd, while in the photo-finish 1600 Castle took 1st and Jerry 2nd. Both gentleman placed in the 800 with Trey taking gold and Jerry receiving the bronze. Placing in the top 3 was Jakob Houser in the 100 and 200. The Girls track team had their first outdoor meet on Thursday, April 6th at Harlan and placed 4th behind Heelan, Harlan and Boone. The Sprint Medley team (Regan Harter, McKayla Olsen, Megan Carley, and Noel James) placed 3rd with 1:55.93. McKayla Olsen placed 3rd in the 100 with a time of 13.19. In the 400 Meter Dash, Chloe Gregory was 3rd with 1:07.62. Noel James placed 2nd in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:25.45. The 4x100 Relay Team of Megan Carley, Regan Harter, Noel James, and McKayla Olsen placed 1st with a time of 53.33. Konnor Sudmann jumped 5-0 to place third in the High Jump.
