Calendar Adjustments/Approval

No School April 26th

2016-17 School Calendar Adjustment:

The school calendar was adjusted at the March school board meeting. April 26 was originally scheduled as a 1:00 p.m. dismissal day for staff professional development. We have contracted with the ALICE Training Institute to provide updated intruder response training for our staff and will need the full day to accomplish the training. Therefore, there will be no school on April 26 and will not need to make up this time.

Snow Day Update:

At this time, we have missed 4 full days of school and encountered 2 late starts. The school calendar includes three days built in for weather, state tournament days, etc.  At this point in time, students will need to make up 1 day plus any additional days that may be missed.  Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!  If no additional days are missed, the last day of school is projected to be Friday, June 2.

2017-18 School Calendar:

The school calendar for 2017-18 was approved at the March school board meeting. A copy of the calendar can be viewed on the school website under the “calendar” tab. Here are a few “highlights” within next year’s calendar:

• Registration will be held on Tuesday, August 1 in the HS commons.
• School will begin on Wednesday, August 23 with a 1:00 p.m. dismissal on the first day.
• No School on Wednesday, November 22, prior to Thanksgiving break.
• The first semester will end on January 12; however, semester tests will be given prior to Christmas break [as was done this year].
• Graduation is scheduled for May 20.
• The projected last day of school is Thursday, May 31.
• For students and staff, three extra days are included in the calendar for snow days, unforeseen cancelations, state tournament days, etc.  If we don’t use all the built in days, school could dismiss prior to May 31.
