Boys Basketball News

2/22/17 - The Boys Basketball season came to an unfortunate end Tuesday evening in Harlan in district basketball play. The Cardinals lost to AHSTW 53-55. The team played hard every single game and left it all on the floor. Treynor Nation is proud of this team and its season.

2/17/17 - Last night's district semi-final game against Underwood proved successful for the hard-working Cardinals, who came out victorious 62-55. Jack Stogdill had a game-high 17 points. Dillon Faubel added 15 while Luke Clausen and Trey Castle each added 11.  On the other side of the bracket, AHSTW defeated Shenandoah. Treynor will play against AHSTW next Tuesday, February 21st in Harlan. Game time will be 7:00 p.m. See the Nonpareil article here for more complete coverage of the Treynor-Underwood game.

2/14/17 - In post-season play, the Cardinals defeated the Red Oak Tigers 68-48. Five players scored in double-digits, including Jack Stogdill with 16, Luke Clausen with 13, Jerry Jorgensen and Dillon Faubel with 12 and Trey Castle with 11. The team moves on to play Underwood Thursday night at AHSTW. Game time will be 6:30 p.m. Updated brackets found here. Read KMA's article for an expanded story.

2/7/17 - Post-season is inching closer for the boys, with schedules set. The Cardinals are Class 2A District 14, and will host two games on February 13th. Treynor will play the 8:00 pm. game against Red Oak. The 6:30 game is Shenandoah vs. Clarinda.

Updates on recent games include a 54-41 victory at  home against Logan Magnolia on the 31st, a 66-29 victory over Griswold on the 2nd of February, and a 60-31 win over Missouri Valley on the 3rd. The Cardinals lost 53-67 to AHSTW at home on February 6th. They play Riverside next on Tuesday, February 7th.

1/30/17 - Because of weather postponing earlier games, the boys had two nights in a row of competition. Friday night, the team traveled to Tri-Center and lost to the Trojans in a hard-fought battle 58-62. Saturday's game was at home against Audubon and the Cardinals chalked up one in the win column, with a 58-47 victory over the Wheelers. The Cardinals have a very busy week ahead with all home games this week. They will face Logan-Magnolia on Tuesday, January 31st, Griswold on Thursday, February 2nd and Missouri Valley on Friday, February 3rd. 

1/23/17 - The Underwood Eagles defeated our Cardinal Boys Friday night 58-41 at Underwood.  Saturday's competition at  home was against Bishop Heelan, a school that Treynor hasn't played for over 4 years. The Cardinals lost to the Crusaders 51-74.  Next up is Audubon at home on Tuesday, February 24th and Friday, February 27th at Tri-Center.

1/18/17 - The boys got an unexpected break from competition this week due to Ice Storm Jupiter, but before that they played on Tuesday, January 10th at home against Riverside and won 77-28. On Friday, January 13th, they played at IKM-Manning and lost 39-49. Next up will be action against the Eagles at Underwood on Friday, January 20th. The game against AHSTW that was postponed will be played on Monday, February 6th at home.

1/9/17 - A 54-18 victory over the Missouri Valley Big Reds Friday night gives the Cardinals a 6-3 record. The boys worked hard over holiday break and it is evident in their games since coming back. Next game will be Tuesday, January 10th at home versus Riverside.

1/7/17 - A day before holiday break officially ended, the Cardinals played at home against Tri-Center. The Trojans and Cardinals battled back and forth and the game went into overtime. The Cardinals came out on top 57-54. Read the KMA Article by Bryan Clark for complete coverage. The team will travel to Missouri Valley Friday night for Western Iowa Conference action. 

12/19/16 - Basketball at Audubon on Tuesday, December 13th ended in a loss to the Cardinals, 61-68. There were no more games the remainder of the week, and the team will travel to Logan Magnolia on Tuesday, December 20th. The team will play Thursday, December 22nd at Griswold. Play will resume after Christmas break at home on Tuesday, January 3rd versus Tri-Center.

12/12/16 - The Cardinal Boys Basketball Team had two games last week, adding 1 win and 1 loss to the stats. Their loss came Tuesday night at AHSTW, where the Vikings' defense forced the Cardinals to miss some shots. Treynor led at half 33-32 and it was a back and forth ball game, with a tie score of 61-61 with 1:47 left. The final score was 66-69. The boys came back to win against the Underwood Eagles Friday night at home. The Eagles went into the locker room with a lead of 25-21 at half, but the Cardinals fought their way back to strong finish, with an end score of 56-47. The next game will be Tuesday night, December 13th at Audubon.

12/5/16 - The Cardinals led the IKM-Manning Wolves for most of the game until things slipped away for our boys, leading to an overtime game. The boys scored 13 points to IKM's 2 in overtime play to come out on top 57-46. Scoring was led by Jerry Jorgenson with 17, followed by Dillon Faubel who scored 11. Luke Clausen added to the tally with 9, Trey Castle scored 8, and Jack Stogdill and Brett Daley each had 5. The team will travel to AHSTW on Tuesday, December 6th and will host the Underwood Eagles Friday, December 9th. 

11/30/16 - The boys basketball team opened up the season on the road at Red Oak on Tuesday, November 29th. The first half was a closer ballgame than the 2nd half, where the Cardinals dominated the boards. Read the KMA article for game highlights. The next game is at home Friday, December 2nd against IKM-Manning.
