XC News

10/27/14: At the cross-country state qualifying meet the girls finished 12th and the boys 13th out of 28 teams. For the girls Gabby Plagge was 49th, Hannah Carolus 62nd, Laura Hempel 69th, Kaylee Finnegan 76th, Clare Travis 77th, Emily Sutherland 95th and Katie Suden 101st. There were 136 runners in the girls' race In the boys' race there were 157 runners. Marc Riley was 75th, Teran Vacanti 76th, Zach Schechinger 83rd, Dom Vacanti 85th, Nathanael 93rd, Grant Pryor 107th and Gabe Carolus113th. Another successful year for both teams as both of them improved an average of 4 1/2 minutes per runner since the start of practice in August.

10/15/14: Congratulations to the cross-country teams on their great efforts at Audubon in the WIC meet yesterday.  The varsity girls were 5th, the varsity boys 8th and the junior high boys 3rd. Hannah Carolus paced the varsity girls with an 18th place finish, followed by Gabby Plagge 26th, Laura Hempel 32nd, Emily Sutherland 34th, Clare Travis 39th, Katie Suden 44th and Kaylee Finnegan51st In the boys varsity Marc Riley was 20th, Teran Vacanti 39th, Zach Schechinger 40th, Grant Pryor 45th, Nathanael 48th, Dominic Vacanti 55th and Gabe Carolus 57th For the junior varsity girls Jailey Simpson was 1st, Klara Ticer 5th, Kaitlin Lunn 6th and Brooklyn Houser 7th. The junior high athletes were led by Isabelle Kudron in 19th, Jordan Finnegan 20th and Maria Carolus 24th. Jerry Jorgenson completed an undefeated season by winning the junior high boys race (thanks to Austin for accepting his ribbon), Jacob Keay 14th, Cainan Davidson was 16th, Mitchell Lutz 19th, Austin Kulesa 24th, Jacob Reelfs 26th and Jack Stogdill 30th.  Congratulations to the junior varsity girls and both junior high teams for a great season.  They all showed great improvement throughout the year.

10/10/14: Congratulations to the cross-country runners on their efforts at Atlantic yesterday.  The junior boys did a great job in finishing 6th and the JV girls ran very well also.  The varsity girls were 18th and varsity boys 23rd. For the junior high boys Jerry Jorgenson was 1st, Cainan Davidson 34th, Mitchell Lutz 45th, Jacob Keay 46th, Jack Stogdill 68th, Jacob Reelfs 69th and Austin Kulesa 77th. There were 128 runners in the race.  The junior high girls' race had 120 runners and Isabell Kudron was 9th and Jordan Finnegan 45th. Kaitlin Lunn led the JV girls with 93rd, Brooklyn Houser was 100th and Klara Ticer 103rd.  There were 154 runners in this race. The boys’ varsity was led by Marc Riley in 111th. Zach Schechinger was 130th, Grant Pryor 152nd, Nathanael Moore 154th and Gabe Carolus 162nd.  170 runners competed in this race.In the girls' varsity race there were 151 runners and Hannah Carolus led the Cards finishing 58th, Gabby Plagge wa 90th, Laura Hempel 94th, Emily Sutherland 111th, Clare Travis 120th, Jailey 121st and Kaylee Finnegan 134th.

10/7/14: Congratulations to the cross-country teams on their excellent efforts at Woodbine yesterday.  he junior high boys were first, varsity girls sixth and varsity boys ninth. For the junior high boys Jerry Jorgenson was 1st, Jacob Keay 14th, Cainan Davidson 16th, Jacob Reelfs 19th, Jack Stogdill 27th, Mitchell Lutz 35th and Austin Kulesa 36th.  In the junior high girls' race Isabelle Kudron was 4th, Jordan Finnegan 24th and Maria Carolus 37th.  Jailey Simpson led the junior varsity girls with a 2nd place finish.  Klara Ticer was 4th and Kaitlin Lunn 6th. Medalist Hannah Carolus was 14th for the girls, Gabby Plagge 28th, Emily Sutherland 35th, Laura Hempel 41st, Kaylee Finnegan 44th, Clare Travis 45th and Katie Suden 54th.The varsity boys were led by Marc Riley in 27th, Teran Vacanti was 30th, Zach Schechinger 50th, Grant Pryor 51st, Nathanael Moore 54th, Dominic Vacanti 56th and Gabe Carolus 83rd. Setting personal bests were Hannah Carolus, Kaylee Finnegan, Clare Travis, Gabby Plagge, Laura Hempel, Klara Ticer, Kaitlin Lunn, Grant Pryor, Nathanael Moore and Dominic Vacanti. Season bests were achieved by Katie Suden, Jailey Simpso Marc Riley and Teran Vacanti.

10/2/14: "We have passed the halfway point of our season and the teams are progressing very well.  Everyone is improving  and we hope to to reach our peak as we get to the conference and state qualifying meet.  We have had a very strenuous week with a lot of tempo and speed work.  With just three weeks left in the season we are looking forward to running our best in our last three meets before saving our very best for the state qualifying meet at Panora on Oct. 23rd."  ~ Coach Slice

9/29/14: Congratulations to the cross-country teams on their efforts at Harlan on Saturday, September 27th. The junior high boys were 6th, the varsity boys 11th and the varsity girls 12th. For the junior high girls Isabelle Kudron was 16th, Jordan Finnegan 55th and Maria Carolus 81st. Jerry Jorgensen led the junior boys with a first place finish, Jacob Reelfs was 35th, Jacob Keay 36th, Cainan Davidson 44th, Jack Stogdill 48th, Mitchell Lutz 54th and Austin Kulesa 65th In the junior varsity boys race Dom Vacanti was 44th and Gabe Carolus 88th. Marc Riley was 53rd for the varsity boys, with Teran Vacanti 65th, Zach Schechinger 66th, Nathanael Moore 79th and Grant Pryor 85th. Jailey led the junior varsity girls with a 26th place finish.  Klara Ticer was 46th and Kaitlin Lunn 51st. The varsity girls were led by Hannah Carolus who finished 37th  .Katie Suden was 58th, Kaylee Finnegan  62nd, Emily Sutherland 66th, Clare Travis 73rd,  Laura Hempel 77th and Gabby Plagge 83rd. Marc, Teran, Katie, Emily and Jailey all had season bests.  Nathanael, Zach, Kaylee, Clare, Klara and Kaitlin all had personal bests.  

9/24/14: At the Tri-Center meet on September 23rd, the cross-country teams had an excellent performance. The girls finished third and the boys were eighth.  Isabelle Kudron was third in the junior high girls' race In the JV boys' race Dominic Vacanti was 21st, Gabe Carolus 25th and Trevor Clark 47th. Trevor had a personal best time.  For the high school boys Marc Riley medaled with a 20th place finish, Teran Vacanti was 41st, Zach Schechinger 42nd, Grant Pryor 48th and Nathaniel Moore 49th. Jailey Simpson won the junior varsity girls race. Also medaling in the JV race were Brooklyn Houser 2nd, Klara Ticer 3rd and Kaitlin Lunn 5th.  Kaitlin ran a personal best. Medalists in the varsity girls' race were Hannah Carolus 14th and Gabby Plagge 18th. Laura Hempel was 23rd, Clare Travis 24th, Katie Suden 28th, Emily Sutherland 33rd and Kaylee Finnegan 35th.  Hannah ran a season best and Clare and Laura ran personal bests.

9/17/14: At AHST on Tuesday, September 16th, the junior high boys won their meet, the varsity boys were seventh and the varsity girls third. In the junior high boys Jerry Jorgensen was the champion with Jacob Reelfs fourth, Jacob Keay 5th, Mitchell Lutz fifteenth, Jack Stogdill sixteenth and Austin Kulesa 20th Isabelle Kudron led the junior high girls finishing third and Jordan Finnegan thirteenth.For the boys Marc Riley was 19th, Teran Vacanti 20th, Zach Schechinger 29th, Grant Pryor 44th, Nathaniel 45th, Dominic Vacanti 49th, Brady Patterson 55th, Gabe Carolus 60th and Trevor Clark 79th. Hannah Carolus finished 13th to lead the girls, Gabby Plagge was 15th, Katie Suden 21st, Kaylee Finnegan 22nd, Clare Travis 23rd, Emily Sutherland 27th, Laura Hempel 29th, Jailey Simpson 34th, Klara Tikcer 46th, Brooklyn Houser 48th and Kaitlin Lunn 54th.  Marc, Nathaniel, Hannah, Gabby, Clare, Klara and Katie all ran season bests.  Nathaniel, Gabby, Clare and Klara also ran personal bests.

9/15/14: At Iowa Western on Saturday, September 13th, the junior high boys were fifth, the junior varsity girls fifth, the varsity girls 10th and the Varsity boys 12th.  For the junior boys Jerry Jorgensen was first, Jack Stogdill 32nd, Jacob Keay 35th, Jacob Reelfs 43rd, Mitchell Lutz 49th, Cainan Davidson 51st and Austin Kulesa 64th.    Isabelle Kudron was fifth in the junior high girls race with Jordan Finnegan 42nd and Maria Carolus 56th.    In the junior varsity girls race Kaylee Finnegan was eighth, Clare Travis 24th, Brooklyn Houser 30th, Klara Ticer 45th and Kaitlin Lunn 47th.      Dominic Vacanti led the JV boys with a 64th place finish, Gabe Carolus was 81st and Brady Patterson 93rd in a race with 116 runners.     The boys varsity was led by Marc Riley who finished 64th, Zach Schechinger 70th, Grant Pryor 76th, Nathaniel Moore 79th and Teran Vacanti 83rd.    Hannah Carolus led the girls varsity with a 39th place finish, Emily Sutherland was 52nd, Gabby Plagge in 53rd with a personal best time, Laura Hempel 55th, Katie Suden 62nd and Jailey Simpson 63rd.
